A Drop of Warmth
Winter creeps in – quietly, yet unmistakably. In the township, where the nights are damp and hearts often heavy, we’ve sent a small gesture to 20 elderly people: a food parcel.
No luxury, no excess – just enough to bring a little warmth to their pots and souls for a few weeks.
Yes, it’s a drop on a hot stone. But sometimes, it’s that very drop that brings a smile.
Like the old man in the wheelchair, missing a leg – but not his sense of humour. When I bring him a hot coffee and a fresh roll on the street, gratitude flickers in his eyes – no words needed.
And every small act – a parcel, a cup of rooibos tea, a smile – makes the world a little brighter.
For them. And for us.
